Fayette County Memorial Hospital (FCMH) EMS is celebrating the 44th annual National EMS week from May 20th-26th. National EMS week was authorized by President Gerald Ford in 1974 to
celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s
communities.
Staff at FCMH-EMS celebrated with a pizza lunch each day provided by the
FCMH Impact Committee.
“I am very thankful and proud of the dedication and professionalism
exhibited by our EMT’s and Paramedics,” states Rod List, EMS
Director. All of us here at FCMH-EMS are grateful for the community support
throughout the year and especially during the recent passing of the county-wide
EMS levy. This will enable us to continue providing prompt and professional
pre-hospital care to the citizens and visitors of Fayette County.”
The Fayette County EMS was established in 1976 as a Rotary project. It
is now owned by the County Commissioners who contract with FCMH to manage
the service. The staff of 14 EMT basics and 20 full/part time paramedics
respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
