Job Description


Manages daily supervision of staff, assigns job duties, writing/adjusting schedules, and assisting with employee evaluations. Perform administrative duties including: maintaining and writing job description, updating policy and procedures, cost report tracking, managing SDS.


Knowledge of institutional housekeeping techniques, hospital total quality management theories and practices, budgeting policies and procedures, hospital policies and procedures, environmental services policies and procedures, infection control policies and procedures, clinical interventions, education, and equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population served by considering the patient’s age, growth and development, medical condition, physical abilities, psychosocial status, potential language barriers, and level of comprehension.

Ability to achieve required competencies related to job duties, communicate effectively, provide leadership to Environmental Services Staff. Skills in word processing, computer skills, good writing, communication and interpersonal skills, telephone etiquette.



Manage and supervise employees

o Coach, document and discipline employees as needed

o Documents and logs all attendance records

· Manage daily operations of EVS

o Review and approve daily departmental logs

o Assign and revise job duties as needed

o Prepare and modify department schedule

§ Approves all benefit use

o Determine and assign special projects as needed

o Conducts random quality inspections

· Communication

o Communicates and updates all department managers regarding EVS duties and performance

o Conduct departmental meetings to ensure proper communication (departmental and hospital wide)

o Reports and communicates department issues, concerns and updates to Leader

· Department Budget

o Verify and confirm product received verses ordered

o Accountable for maintaining department supply, inventory, costs and budget

o Approve and oversee labor budget and individual employee time/attendance records

· Manage SDS Standard

o Train new employees at new hire orientation regarding SDS standards

o Ensure hospital wide compliance of SDS Program

· Department Policy & Procedure Manual

o Implement and maintain department policy and procedures

· Manage Department Competency Program

o Create and maintain department performance evaluation indicators

o Create and maintain department job descriptions

o Create and maintain department ADA specifications

o Create and maintain department training checklist

o Document and evaluate all EVS employee’s 6 month and annual performance

o Make recommendations for additional training needs for employees
