FCMH Adds an Anticoaguation Clinic to Services.

Lyndon Christman, President and CEO for Fayette County Memorial Hospital announced recently that an anticoagulation clinic has been added as a service provided by FCMH.

This outpatient clinic, operated by FCMH Registered Pharmacists, is designed for patients with an increased risk for blood clots due to a history of atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism and/or any other conditions requiring the use of blood thinners such as Coumadin or Lovenox.

Services of the clinic include finger stick blood draws for immediate results of prothrombin time (PT)/International Normalized Ratio (INR), which determines the length of time it takes your blood to clot; review of these figures to make any needed dosage adjustment determinations, review of current medications including over the counter and herbal supplements to check for drug interactions, ongoing patient education and communication with your family physician or specialist and prescriptions or refills as needed by the patients for their anticoagulant therapy. The parameters are established by the patient’s referring physician and monitored by the Clinical Pharmacist.

"This added service for the patients includes less wait time for their lab results and pharmacist accessibility to review any questions the patient may have. Our staff of pharmacists works closely with the patient’s physician so both the patient and physician receive the testing and resources they need in a quick and effective manner, “states Jennifer Lynch, RPh, Director of Pharmacy Services for FCMH.

The clinic is located in the Outpatient Clinic Center area with hours of operation Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00AM to 12 noon. For further information on the clinic please phone (740) 333-2900.
