Childbirth Education
"Designed by women, for women...and thier babies."
Pregnancy can be an exciting time, but it can also be frightening, especially if it is your first baby. Knowing what to expect can help you feel more prepared and ready for your baby's arrival, which is why we offer Childbirth Education classes at Fayette County Memorial Hospital.
Childbirth Education classes are offered to the community for those women delivering at Fayette County Memorial Hospital's Birth Center, as well as for those women delivering elsewhere. Classes are offered on Tuesdays, every other month for four weeks, and are scheduled to start at 6:30p.m. and wrap-up around 8:30p.m. There is also an all day Saturday class offered four times a year for those unable to attend the evening classes.
In class you will learn about the normal process of labor, what you can expect when you get to the hospital, ways to cope with the pain of labor, what your labor partner or support person can do to help you during the labor process. These classes are informal and fun, and even dad doesn't escape "being pregnant" with the use of the Empathy Belly, an apron that Dad can wear to see "how heavy" a baby is!
Contact The Birth Center at 333-2855 to register for a class.
